About the event

We have been asked to create a complete photography course for beginners back in 2014. So this is our 8 week course designed for folks with a camera who want to know how to actually use it to its full potential helping you capture your artistic vision. The study of photography is the study of light, what camera you want to use to capture that light is up to you. This course is the same course I've taught at The Washington School of Photography in Bethesda, MD.

So we are pleased to offer you a cost effective way to learn photography from the ground up with proven techniques with professional photographers our professional studio, and on location in and around Baltimore, MD.

This course will meet weekly, but alternate between in person in the studio (or on location) and on ZOOM for online meetings (lecture, completed projects, image critiques) where we fine tune your understanding so you can grow.

The schedule looks like this:

  • Week 1: Introductions and using the exposure triangle and studying composition.
  • Week 2: What makes a good photograph, understanding and using studio lights.
  • Week 3: Understanding digital workflows and editing in Photoshop for final displays.
  • Week 4: Introduction to printing and how one could display your work as an artist for the best presentations.
  • Feedback and closing comments.

This course will have you learning and working in a studio environment and on location with real world situations to manage. There is a course syllabus with home work assignments you will have two weeks to complete as well.Yes, this is a weekly learning environment where you will know more than ever!
